See you Saturday, October 17, for Week 6 at South Bay Chinese School! This week brings our poster and penmanship competition, our first cultural classes, and an opportunity to help our growing Cantonese program.
Cultural classes begin: 11 AM–12 PM
Our first cultural classes follow the poster and penmanship competition. No separate pickup or drop-off is needed between language and cultural classes: our teaching assistants will guide students to their respective cultural classes.
Please pick up your child at 12 PM directly from their cultural class classroom.

We’re hiring: children’s Cantonese teacher
Our Cantonese program is growing! We are adding a second “Cantonese 0” (C0) class for heritage learners ages 5–8 and seeking a passionate, engaging teacher to join our team.
The class helps children with little to no Cantonese experience build foundational listening and speaking skills through interactive games, storytelling, songs, and fun activities, while developing an appreciation for Cantonese language and culture.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is fluent in both English and Cantonese.
- Enjoys working with children.
- Is patient, enthusiastic, and creative.
- Is passionate about sharing Cantonese language and culture.
Interested? Email your resume and a short introduction to jobs@southbaychineseschool.com, and visit our Jobs page for full position details.
We are also accepting applications from Cantonese teachers, substitute teachers, and teaching assistants who are passionate about working with students of all ages and levels. Please share this opportunity with anyone who may be interested!
